About Brian Silverman,
Chief Solution Officer
Comfortable in a room full of engineers talking architecture.
Comfortable in a room full of executives talking outcomes.
That’s not an accident. It’s where my career has lived, translating between the two, for organizations of every size.
Not technology pretending to understand business. Not a business strategy that doesn’t understand what the technology can and can’t do.
Technology-led strategy fails the business. But a business strategy that doesn’t understand the technology can’t evaluate it honestly either.
The middle. Where both conversations happen at once — and where AI strategy actually gets decided.
That is why the Business of AI Roadmap is a Business
First Roadmap, its foundation is built
on both business and technology feasibility.
Experience that Matters
Every era of technology follows the same pattern. Excitement first.
Business value second.
Each era builds on the one before it.
• Client-Server, when terminals finally talked to real systems
• The Internet, when legacy systems learned to speak browser
• Cloud, when everything became accessible from your pocket
• AI, when systems start to think, but only deliver value when connected to what already works
What made each era valuable was the connection of
new technology to business outcomes.
Why the Business of AI Roadmap Exists
A commitment to the truth about AI.
The Business of AI exists because I realized AI is the most business-first technology there has ever been.
AI is more than the latest foundation model or chatbot; it’s a family of solutions, including generative, predictive, and agentic AI, that need to be incorporated into an overall AI strategy focused on business innovation and real outcomes.
Take generative AI as an example.
Generative AI is probabilistic. That’s not a flaw, it’s the same mechanism that makes it capable of the “magic” people are excited about. Hallucination isn’t a bug in that system. It’s the same system.
So when a tool promises to validate prompts before they’re sent, or check results after they come back, as if hallucination were a solvable defect, that’s not a fix. It’s a misunderstanding of what generative AI actually is, sold as reassurance.
Understanding that distinction changes more than governance. It changes what gets chosen in the first place. The right answer is rarely “generative AI for everything.” It’s often the right combination, generative AI, other AI techniques, and the applications and systems already in place, each used for what it actually does well.
That is the difference between a Business First AI Strategy and technology for technology’s sake
